Virginia Wine Month

It just doesn’t get better than fall in Virginia!

Perhaps the most beautiful time to observe autumn in Virginia is the month of October.  Typically peak season to celebrate the harvest, hike in the Shenandoah, attend fall festivals across the state, and rock the first scarf, flannel, and puffy vest of the season, October also offers another perk in Virginia.  The month of October is the Virginia Tourism Corporation’s (Virginia is For Lovers) official Virginia Wine Month!

We know what you are thinking– every month is Virginia Wine Month for us! True. But this is the big time for the Virginia wine industry.  With another record breaking sales year for Virginia wine and over 280 wineries to choose from across the state, Virginia Wine Country becomes a top destination for locals, wine enthusiasts and tourists this month.  Offering tastes of recent harvests accompanied by the history, charm, friendly people and scenic views of the Old Dominion, wineries provide the perfect atmosphere to gather with loved ones, your furry pals and a picnic basket filled with local cheeses and charcuteries!  While we believe the experience of wine tasting alone is enough for a pleasurable day in Virginia, many wineries celebrate Virginia Wine Month by hosting special festivals, live music and entertainment, exclusive tastings and wine education opportunities, and more!  To see a full list of Virginia Wine Month events and “discover your local crush”, click here!

Make sure to follow our adventures on Instagram all month long!  We’ll be sharing some of our favorites wines and visiting a few of our top wineries across the state!

Make sure to visit at least a few Virginia Wineries this month– you’ll not only be supporting the local economy, but you’ll have an opportunity to talk with winemakers, enjoy local cuisine, and most importantly, get that Instagram picture you’ve been waiting for with the beauty of Virginia as the perfect backdrop.

Cheers!
